Qin Cheng

Dr Qin Cheng (BMed, MMed, PhD) is currently Head of the Drug Resistance and Diagnostics Department at the Australian Army Malaria Institute (1998-present) and a Visiting Scientist at the QIMR-Berghofer Medical Research Institute (1998-present). She was also the Head of the Malaria Drug Resistance and Chemotherapy laboratory at QIMR between 2004 and 2010, and an adjunct Associate Professor at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Queensland between 2004 and 2015. Dr Cheng’s research interests include malaria drug resistance, diagnostics, parasite biology and molecular epidemiology. She has been invited frequently as a Temporary Adviser to the World Health Organization (WHO) and WHO Pacific Regional Office (WPRO) on evaluating malaria diagnostics and on monitoring malaria drug resistance. She is a member of the WHO-FIND Malaria Rapid Diagnostic Tests Evaluation Program Steering Committee. Dr Cheng has also been actively supporting the Asia Pacific Malaria Elimination Network (APMEN) Vivax Working Group.
